Resource Consents
Altra Planning assists in obtaining resource consent for various projects. The different types of consents we prepare include subdivision consents, land use consents, discharge permits, water permits and coastal permits. Other applications we prepare include change/cancellation of conditions (s127), as well as outline plans and waivers.

Feasibility Assessments / Advice
Altra Planning can provide feasibility assessments and advice for projects to outline what is involved and indicate whether there are any obstacles from a planning perspective.

Certificate of Compliance
Altra Planning can prepare certificate of compliance applications for sign off from Council to provide you that extra level of security and certainty in relation to your project.

Submissions
Altra Planning can prepare planning submissions on your behalf, whether it be in response to a Plan Change or a notified development or activity.
The Process - Obtaining Resource Consent
Project Launch and Briefing
Embarking on a new project involves various different elements. Our first step will be to go over your ideas and define the project’s objectives. This allows us to fully grasp your vision and ensure we’re aligned with your expectations from the start.
Evaluation
Next, we’ll dive into a detailed analysis of your project and site. This includes reviewing relevant statutory documents (e.g. District Plan) and other key aspects such as the record of title. Once a full analysis has been completed we will confirm the feasibility of your project, determine what consents are required and indicate whether specialist input might be required to support the resource consent application.
Altra Planning can obtain quotes from and engage other specialists on your behalf in instances where specialist input would be needed to ensure the process is streamlined for you. One example where specialist input would be required to support a resource consent application would be for a subdivision. A surveyor is often engaged to prepare the Subdivision Plan to support the application and assist in giving full effect to the granted resource consent (achieving s223 and s224 certification).
As part of the evaluation stage, there will be some situations where it is identified that resource consent is not required.
Preparation and Finalisation
With the project brief and technical input in hand (where applicable), we’ll finalise and lodge the resource consent application to the relevant Council. The resource consent application includes the details of the project, site, surrounding environment and includes a full assessment of the relevant statutory documents.
Project Oversight
As processing of the application begins, we’ll be there to guide the process. We will respond to council queries and further information requests and review draft conditions within area of expertise all while keeping you updated throughout the process. We will ensure everything is progressing smoothly, ensuring your interests are fully represented every step of the way.
